There is no substitute for imagination, and Art Fluid, Nightmare on 13th Street, is a visionary exploration of art meets Halloween – an immersive, public art/happy hour event October 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Hot Shops Art Center.
Home to Omaha’s largest artist collective, Hot Shops’ open-door policy (the collaborative is open daily and does not charge admission) means public engagement is welcome and encouraged.
Now, the region can return the gift of “art for all” to Hot Shops in the organization’s first-ever Art Fluid fundraiser.
“We are excited to expand October’s Art Fluid event to include an opportunity to give. Our artists are amazing, and can’t wait to host the region in creating make-and-take projects, sharing live-painting demonstrations and showcasing some of their fiery glass and ceramic work,” said Kim Sellmeyer, executive director, Hot Shops Art Center.
Founded in 1999, Hot Shops became a nonprofit organization in 2020, allowing the collaborative to expand educational opportunities, increase access and continue as an art anchor in North Downtown Omaha. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and supporters, Hot Shops’ outreach activities are gaining momentum, exposing prospective artists of all ages to new forms of expression.
Art Fluid, Nightmare on 13th Street invites attendees to enjoy an intimate evening with some of the region’s most celebrated artists.
Proceeds from the event support Hot Shops’ unique vision to “be the spark that helps build a more open and creative community,” and ensures the more than 80 artists who comprise the collective can continue their work in one of the area’s most historic locations.
Corporate and individual sponsorships are available.
