Opening Reception: Friday, Feb. 7
My name is Penny Hall. I am an abstract artist who loves to see where colors together will take me.
I am originally from Illinois and have lived in Omaha for 2 years. I was first introduced to art in Sioux Falls, SD. My introduction was quick, and I was afraid of not doing it “right”. The lady, Joan, who showed me art said it is “ok to be me”- so I painted red on a canvas and scratched the word Rage. That painting was done in 2017.
The first couple of paintings got me through a deep depression. I put down the brushes for a while but have recently picked them back up.
I visited Hot Shops Gallery with friends and noticed art that looked similar to mine. I realized that abstract art is still art and maybe I could display mine too. I was inspired by my friend to talk to someone about having a show.
My paintings do not have names because I think the person who looks at my art will feel their own feelings and have their own emotions when looking at it. I also have never signed it because I do not want to distract from the art itself.
