Beginning Acrylic Painting – 4 weeks

4-weeks. Starting Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26

In this class we will explore the absolute basic painting techniques using acrylic paint. Some of these techniques and styles include; understanding materials and tools, adding shadows and highlights, blending, and painting from observation. Step by step instruction in a calm and inspiring environment.

Materials to Bring

• 4 Stretched Canvases (any size or shape- no bigger than 11×14) You will want to have the ones that
  are already gessoed (they have a white coating on them)
• Assorted Acrylic Paint Set- the higher quality the more vibrant the color.
• Paint Brushes (Round sizes, 6, 8, 12) A Flat brush is helpful too.
• Paint Tray- one without the compartments are the best for cleaning – disposable ones are great for class
• 4 oz. Golden Retarder or a slow drying agent.
• An old rag
