SOLD OUT: Long Stitch Bookbinding Workshop

Dating from the thirteenth century, the long stitch binding has a decorative history. Highly adaptable to a variety of applications from sketchbooks to artist’s books, these binding structures open flat and provide endless opportunities to incorporate individual design. We will begin with simple sewing and quickly move to decorative patterns and techniques. Demonstrations and discussion will include a variety of approaches for sewing patterns, paper cut-outs, and adding other elements to both the inside and outside of the books. Each participant will design and bind two small books using handmade paper covers, binding thread, beads, buttons, sticks. All materials provided.
